Case Packing Robots
Robots are well applied to case packing when the proper conditions exist for speed, product shape and shipping carton size. In the right applications, robots can be considerably less expensive than automatic drop-packers or wrap around style case packers.
Articulated robots can achieve rates above 30 cycles per minute, and if multiple product pieces can be picked with each cycle, very high packing rates can be achieved. Furthermore, robots can be programmed to handle many different case packing patterns, and change-over can often be completed with the push of a few buttons.
Proper grouping and control of the inbound product on conveyors is essential to success, as is intelligent integration of the electronic controls system.
