Pick To Label / RF / Paper
Traditional order picking solutions include RF (radio frequency) scanning, pick to label, or pick from paper. RF scanning requires barcode-labeled products and storage locations to provide useful gains in pick & putaway accuracy and productivity. RF systems communicate with the host database or WMS to provide status of inventory and fulfillment operations. RF is considered to be entry level for paperless-based picking. Pick-to-Label is highly popular for full case picking. Adhesive labels are printed in sequential order matching the most efficient walk / pick path running through a particular storage area. The labels are peeled from their backing and applied to the matching items selected. Items are placed onto a takeaway conveyor or pallet. Labels can then be scanned downstream for order confirmation and automated sortation purposes.
